Two teams with very different levels of experience took the court Friday night for the first game of the DeKalb Turkey Toss-Up. St. Bede stepped on the floor without a single starter from last year's regional championship team. The Lady Bruins graduated five of their top six starters, and returning starter Ashley Pearson had to sit out with plantar fasciitis. Hampshire, meanwhile, returned its top three scorers from a team that went 24-5 and won a regional championship in Class 3A.  

The Twin Falls Lady Bruins jumped all over the Skyview Hawks on Friday night, pulling out to a 12-2 lead early in the first quarter. The Bruins never looked back, beating the Hawks 53-24 in non-conference play.

Last night on 'Fringe' season 2 episode 2 'August,' a rogue observer crossed the line when he mysteriously abducted a young lady off the street. The other observers were confused by his action and called the Fringe team to correct the situation. Peter and Olivia went on the hunt for the kidnapper and tried to save the girl before it was too late.

Serving as a springboard into the basketball season, Polk County's Wildcats and Wildkittens played hosts to the Northwest Whitfield teams in the annual Hall of Fame games Thursday night with the Bruin teams from Tunnel Hill, Ga., sweeping both games. The girls' game was a nail biter. The Lady Bruins' Jordi Cook drained a three-pointer with just over a minute remaining to give her team a 55-54 lead.  

For those who are doing their duty and are gorwing a mo', brave. Do you look absurd? Thought so.  

Dalton's swim teams hosted — and dominated — a season-opening tri-match against Northwest Whitfield and Cartersville on Thursday. The Catamounts won with 164 points over the Bruins (93) and the Purple Hurricanes (47) while the Lady Catamounts (162) coasted past the Lady Purple Hurricanes (92) and Lady Bruins (38). "It was a very good way to open the season," said Dalton coach Charles Todd, who watched his squads produce 11 state qualifying times.  

Padua took the most arduous route imaginable, but still got the job done. The Lady Bruins (27-2) staged an impressive comeback in the Division II state volleyball finals to upend North Coast League rival Lake Catholic, 16-25, 21-25, 25-22, 15-9, at Wright State University. It's the second straight season the Lady Bruins have earned the championship volleyball crown.
